Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a popular fluoropolymer, which is well-known for its variety of applications. This material is reinforced with glass fiber at percentage varying between 5-40% to improve its mechanical properties. SSP Manufacturing, Inc. provides seals made from 75% virgin PTFE, and 25% glass filled fiber. Our 25% glass-Teflon seals are perfect for conditions where regular elastomeric seals fail to meet thermal, chemical, and wear related requirements.

• The 25% glass-fiber reinforced material has the lowest coefficient of friction, and maintains its self-lubricating properties in dry environments.
• The seals made from this material will not swell due to moisture absorption, and can easily withstand daily wear and tear.
• The seals receive their excellent electrical properties due to their material of construction. These properties include low dielectric constant, high dielectric strength, as well as high electrical resistance.
• The glass filled PTFE material can resist most chemicals in industrial applications, as well as fluorine, alkali metals, oxygen difluoride, etc. It is not recommended for bearing applications where it may come in contact with hydrofluoric acid.
• The seals can withstand temperatures up to 370°C, which makes them ideal for several high heat applications.
• These seals have reduced stick-slip, and provide long-term performance.
• The seals have low creep performance at high and low temperatures.
